Montreal teen drives stolen car into ditch, flees but…

Durham Police officers arrested a 17-year old male following the brief pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Ajax Thursday morning.

On March 24 at about 3:30 am, members of West Division responded to a call for a stolen vehicle in the area of Westney Road South and Bramwell Drive. The suspect stole a Dodge Durango from the victim, said a police statement.

Police responded and located the vehicle driving westbound on Highway 401. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle over, the suspect failed to stop for police, exited on Liverpool Road before losing control and driving into a ditch. The suspect fled on foot and was arrested in a nearby backyard, it said.

A 17-year-old male of Montreal was charged with: Theft of Motor Vehicle; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000; Flight from Police and Red Light Fail to Stop. He was held for a bail hearing.
