Mother and son almost hit by driver turning left

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday reemphasized that motorists have to yield to pedestrians during a left turn.

When you make a turn, especially a left, ensure you yield to pedestrians, said DRPS Traffic Services

This driver turned without looking and nearly struck a mother and her son that were in the crosswalk, it said.

It further stated that the walk indicator was on.

When asked, the driver said: “Sorry, I didn’t look”.

The motorist got a total fine of $365.
