A 56-year-old male resident of Ajax has died as a result of a collision involving a motorcycle in Pickering on Monday.
On May 23 at about 7:16 pm, members from West Division were called to a serious single vehicle collision involving a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle travelling westbound on Taunton Road approaching Brock Road. The motorcycle lost control, striking the metal guardrail on the north side of the roadway. The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene, said a police statement.
Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

17-year old hurt
A 17-year-old motorcycle driver suffered life-altering injuries after striking a passenger vehicle in Whitby.
On Friday, May 20 at about 5:03 pm, members of Central West Division responded to a report of a sport utility vehicle being struck by a motorcycle at 380 Taunton Road East, Whitby.
The 17-year-old motorcycle driver was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre while the driver of the SUV sustained no injuries. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers, police said.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
