Talk about brazen, distracted or just plain… but there are people out there whose actions sometimes challenge belief.
One was the case of a motorist who drove up to a Festive Ride stop with a beer can on the side.
Driving through a RIDE 2023 spot check with an open beer in your cup holder is cause for concern, said DRPS Traffic Services.
Following the stop, driver (image above) also registered for a three-day driving licence suspension on the roadside screening, police said urging people to drive sober.
Large police presence
Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday alerted the public about a large police presence at a home on Renfield Crescent in Whitby.
“The situation is contained to a residential address and there is no risk to public safety at this time. Schools in the area are not impacted,” it said.
About an hour later, it added that the situation had been resolved and police would be clearing the area.
