Watch work in progress on future Whitby Sports Complex

Town of Whitby, on Monday, released a video of construction works in full swing on the future Whitby Sports Complex.

The ground-breaking ceremony that marked the start of construction on the $155 million Whitby Sports Complex and outdoor park, was held on September 14.

The new facility and park are being built west of Baldwin Street South, south of the intersection of Highway 407, and are expected to open in late-2025.

The need for a new sports facility was identified in the Town’s Culture, Parks, Recreation and Open Space Strategic Master Plan as well as the Sports Facility Strategy that was developed based on significant community engagement. Both plans identified amenities that the new sports complex should include meeting the recreational needs of its community. In addition, amenities were selected based on feedback received during a needs assessment with Whitby’s sports organizations in 2020.

The state-of-the-art facility will be a place for residents of all ages and abilities to connect, play and get active, the town said.
