Motorist racks up six offences in just one morning drive

DRPS Traffic Services have seen it all, heard it all – but they still get surprised every now and then during the time they spend on the roads of Durham.

Yesterday, they came across a G1 driver, who was stopped for speeding, but ended up with six tickets and got the vehicle impounded to boot (top image).

The six offences were:

  1. Speeding 33 kmh over the limit,
  2. Fail to surrender licence,
  3. Use plate unauthorized,
  4. No insurance,
  5. Fail to apply for permit,
  6. G1 unaccompanied.

“This is not a great way to start your day,” said officers. “Please ensure you follow the rules of the road and don’t expose others to undue risk.”

Slight decrease in overspeeding appreciated

In another instance, DRPS Traffic Services officers caught a driver going west 37 kmh over the limit.

Just 29 minutes later, same driver (image below) caught in same spot, this time eastbound at 26 kmh over.

“Although we appreciate the slight decrease… this behaviour is unacceptable,” police said.

No further details were released in both instances.
