Robber hits three banks in three towns in three days

Durham Police yesterday said a 41-year-old male is facing numerous charges after robbing three banks in three days in Durham Region.

On Wednesday, February 21 at about 5:30 pm, members from East Division attended a robbery call at the TD Bank located at 570 Longworth Avenue in Bowmanville. A male entered the bank and demanded cash. He indicated he had a firearm; however, no gun was seen. The male left the bank and left the area in a red sedan, said a police statement.

On Thursday, February 22 at around 5:45 pm, members from North Division attended a robbery call at the TD Bank located at 165 Queen Street in Port Perry. A male entered the bank and demanded cash. He indicated he had a firearm, however, no gun was seen. The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled the bank.

On Friday, February 23 at about 2:30 pm, members from North Division responded to a robbery call at the Scotiabank located at 1 Douglas Road in Uxbridge. A male entered the bank and demanded cash. He indicated he had a firearm. However, no gun was seen. The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled the bank.

The robbery unit attended the area and located the male a short distance away. He was taken into custody without incident, said police.
