No imminent threat at Beaverton school: police

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said all students and staff were safe at a north Durham school, following reports of ‘a situation’.

There have been social media threats made against a Durham District School Board (DDSB) school in nearby Uxbridge, forcing police to investigate there at least three times (see below).

The latest to come under the spotlight is the Beaverton Public School in the Township of Brock.

“Police are aware of the current situation at Beaverton Public School,” said a brief statement from DRPS North Division yesterday.

“There is no imminent threat to the school. Today’s actions stem from a previous incident that occurred in December which was investigated, and no charges were laid,” the statement said.

“There are no safety concerns at this time,” police emphasized.
