Olympics guide: Who will win the most medals?

In July and August this year, Paris will host the 2024 Olympic Games. Sports enthusiasts, fans, athletes, and bettors are looking forward to an exciting few months of games and trying to anticipate which country will head home with the most medals.

The Summer Olympic Games will consist of 32 games in total with 206 countries competing for first place. The games will range from track and field, basketball, archery, beach volleyball, diving, boxing, swimming, gymnastics, wrestling, tennis, and more.

In this article, we’ll review which countries will take home the most bronze, silver, and gold from the 2024 Summer Olympics.

U.S.A.

The U.S.A. is a top bet for many sports wagerers. With a number of skilled and experienced athletes competing this year, the country is currently predicted to score above the rest, with betting odds of 1/7 according to most betting sites in Canada.

Many bettors will review a country’s past performance before placing a wager, and the U.S.A. has done well in prior years. With 18 past Olympic wins during the Summer Olympics, it’s safe to say that many will be placing their bets on the U.S.A. leading the 2024 Paris Games. As bettors look to place their wagers, some may find that online betting is allowed in their state, while others may opt to use offshore or crypto betting sites in order to place their wagers.

China

China has a strong history of doing well in the Summer Olympic Games. The country has finished first once, second three times, and third twice. With betting odds of 9/2 many sports fans in China and beyond will be wagering on the country bringing home a medal this year. This year, China has a total of 104 men and 197 women who qualified to compete in the Summer Olympics, and with so many skilled athletes competing, many sports fans believe that multiple gold medals could be in China’s future.

Great Britain

While China and the U.S.A. are predicted to take the top spots at the upcoming games, Great Britain will also likely do well with betting odds at 40/1. In fact, a prediction by Nielson’s Gracenote forecasted that Great Britain would take home 66 medals overall, including up to 13 gold medals. This seems likely given the number of outstanding athletes that are competing for Great Britain like Sky Brown in skateboarding, Keely Hodgkinson in athletics, and Kimberly Woods in canoe slalom.

Japan

Japan is no stranger to winning gold medals during the Olympics, with the country taking home its first-ever gold medal from the Olympics in 1928. Since then, Japanese athletes have won more than 497 medals, and this number will likely increase after the summer games this year. With a strong pool of top-tier athletes, Japan is a smart wager for sports fans in Japan and abroad, with odds of 50/1.
