One non-LTC covid death, 34 new cases added

Durham Health yesterday posted 34 new Covid-19 cases for February 21, taking the region’s tally to 11,639 since the count began on February 29.

One new non-LTC (long term care) covid death was reported in Clarington. There have been 8 covid deaths in February, 45 in January, 53 in December and 5 in November. Durham’s overall death toll stands at 294 with 216 of them occurring in LTCs.

There were:

  • 4 new cases in Pickering
  • 9 in Ajax
  • 6 in Whitby
  • 10 in Oshawa, and
  • 5 in Clarington

Recoveries stand at 11,068 (11,025), up by 43. There are 277 active covid cases.

Nineteen cases are hospitalized with 10 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 258 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 3,371 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 294              LTCH – 216

Of the 99 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 49 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Forty-five deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTCH
Of the 48 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTCH
Fourteen deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
Fifteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 13 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Brock
