Oshawa releases Strategic Plan 2020-2023

The City of Oshawa has released the Our Plan for Success: Oshawa Strategic Plan 2020 (OSP).

Endorsed by council this past May, the plan serves as the city’s highest-level policy document and guides the work of the city, its decisions and the development of the community over the next four years utilizing the principles of sustainability and financial stewardship, said a city statement.

The five strategic goals that City Council endorsed for the 2020-2023 OSP are:

  1. Economic Prosperity and Financial Stewardship
  2. Accountable Leadership
  3. Social Equity
  4. Cultural Vitality
  5. Environmental Responsibility

Each strategic goal organized by themes, which are further supported by individual strategies. In addition to the themes, the plan also includes the City’s community vision and corporate mission, the city said.

It thanked all Oshawa residents, business/property owners and other stakeholders who participated in the community engagement opportunities in the fall of 2019 providing feedback that is incorporated into the plan. Additionally, the document features photography shared by community members.

The updated OSP will guide the work of the city for the remainder of the existing council term, with a slight overlap into the next term to guide until new priorities are set by the incoming Council.

“I am proud of this refreshed Oshawa Strategic Plan and the path it provides to achieve the best results for our City over the next four years. It is an opportunity to collaborate with City Council, employees, community stakeholders and businesses to further strengthen and sustain our city,” says Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter.
