The City of Oshawa is asking community members to share their feedback on the winter maintenance operations (salting and plowing).
Snow clearing activities are undertaken on a priority basis as part of the city’s winter operations. The city posts the progress of its winter snow clearing operations and updates its Snow Clearing Activity Report three times a day (morning, afternoon, and evening) during a weather event.
Snow removal crews work around the clock and aim to complete clearing 24 hours after a snowfall ends. The city encourages community members to complete a feedback form 48 hours after each winter storm this season:
- Online on Connect Oshawa (connectoshawa.ca/Snow);
- On paper at Service Oshawa (located at City Hall, 50 Centre Street South) during regular business hours; or,
- By calling Service Oshawa at 905-436-3311 during regular business hours to request a paper form be mailed to you.
The feedback form will be open until April 1. Feedback received will be considered in adjustments made to winter operations this season and beyond, the city said.
It said community members play a key role in keeping Oshawa safe and accessible during winter. The city asks residents ensure timely and thorough snow and ice clearance during snow events, including:
- Clear the sidewalk adjacent to your property
- Pile snow from your driveway and sidewalk onto your property, not on the roadway
- No overnight on-street parking between 2 am and 6 am and or during snow clearing operations
- Keep an area at the curb clear of snow and ice for waste collection – don’t place waste on top of snow banks
- Clear snow away from hydrants
- Clear snow away from catch basins
- Give plows plenty of room; remember they may have to back up
