Oshawa residents driving more safely… except for one

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday revealed that Oshawa drivers are being more law abiding and safe – except for one.

A DRPS Central East Division tweet yesterday said: Oshawa City residents are driving more safely. Except one driver caught twice in 2 hours 77/50, 78/50.

The division’s Traffic Safety Team has finished its April initiative.

The tweet said while the total numbers are high at 549 tickets and 40 cautions issued, there was a 10 per cent reduction over the previous month.

Meanwhile, DRPS East Division officers cautioned against using the cell phone while driving, especially to text messages.

“Don’t text and drive, especially while in a Community Safety Zone near a school! Keep your eyes on the road and drive safely,” it said in a tweet.
