Residents, leave them kits alone…

Let nature take its course – please stay away from the fox den, says an advisory from the Municipality of Clarington.

Clarington’s Animal Services Division said a fox den in Courtice has been found.

It is asking residents who may have encountered the den and are feeding – and taking pictures of the foxes – to leave the wild animals alone.

“The mom is raising the kits, and they will move on naturally once they are raised and ready,” said the statement.

Generally, the newborn kits do not leave their den for at least a month. They are meant to survive in the wild, it added.

“If you feed them, and they get used to human contact, they will become domesticated and not survive in the wild,” said the advisory. “Please leave them alone and let nature take its course.”
