Part of Clarington’s Liberty Street to be closed until July end

The Region of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming road closure on Liberty Street North (Regional Road 14) in Bowmanville.

The closure will be from April 28 to July 30 on Liberty Street North, from Pamela Court to Sydel Court, in the community of Bowmanville in the Municipality of Clarington.

The road closure is in place for the construction of two new watermains. Traffic will be detoured for the duration of the work. Detour notices will be in place, said a region notice.

Ongoing lane closure on Bowmanville Avenue

There is also an ongoing lane closure on Bowmanville Avenue in the Municipality of Clarington until December.

Bowmanville Avenue will be reduced to a single lane of traffic between 10th Concession and Boundary Road, said the region.

This is needed to safely replace the Burketon Station bridge over the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Railway.

The region said temporary traffic signals will be installed on either side of the bridge to safely alternate north and south passage during construction.

Lane restrictions in Brock

There are also lane restrictions on Regional Road 13 in the Township of Brock from the week of April 21 to June. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.

The restrictions are on Regional Road 13 from 730 metres east of Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) to 810 metres west of Sideroad 17 in the Township of Brock.

They are in place to accommodate the reconstruction of Regional Road 13.

The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
