Pedestrian critical after being struck by delivery van

A 40-year-old male pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday evening in Courtice.

On December 15 at about 5:09 pm, members from East Division were called to a serious collision at the intersection of Trulls Road and Nash Road. It is reported that the male was crossing the north side of the intersection when he was struck by a parcel delivery van that was turning left, said a police statement.

First responders attended the scene within minutes and provided medical assistance to the male pedestrian. The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma hospital with life-threatening injuries. The male remains in critical condition at this time. The driver of the van did not sustain any injuries.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
