Phase 1 of police body cameras completed in Durham

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday announced that phase 1 of body-worn cameras (BWCs) deployment is complete in Durham Region.

The phase 1 BWCs deployment started on September 16.

BWCs were to be deployed to front-line officers in the Traffic Services Branch, and the West and North Division community police offices that support Pickering, Ajax and north Durham.

Future phases will see deployment continue across the region, including Whitby, Oshawa and Clarington, said an earlier DRPS statement (see Related Story below).

The BWCs have been used during the ongoing 2021 Festive RIDE campaign by the DRPS.
