Pistol-whipping suspect held with handguns and crack

A male is facing numerous charges after two firearms and drugs were located in a vehicle in Courtice, Clarington, according to Durham Police.

Members of the Guns and Gang Enforcement Unit and Offender Management Unit said they arrested a male in relation to a pistol-whipping incident that occurred in February.

On Tuesday, February 4, members of Central West Division said they responded to an armed person call in the area of Garden Street and Mary Street East in Whitby. Investigation revealed that a victim attended a residence to pick up their property when they were confronted by the accused. The victim was struck in the back of the head with a handgun causing a laceration which required medical treatment in hospital.

On Friday, March 14, the suspect was taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of two handguns with over capacity magazines and a quantity of drugs, including over 110 grams of crack cocaine, reported police.

A 28-year-old from Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing.
