Video: Teen caught driving twice the speed limit on Hwy 401

A teen is facing charges after travelling at more than double the speed limit on Highway 401 in Whitby.

On Thursday, March 14, at about 11:30 pm, Air1 was proactively patrolling when two vehicles were observed travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401. Police reported that both vehicles were travelling at speeds more than 200 kmh.

Members of Central West Division responded and located one of the vehicles in the area of Taunton Road East and Highway 412. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested.

A 19-year-old male from Whitby was charged and released on a part 3 summons. His license was suspended for 30 days and the motor vehicle impounded for 14 days. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

No information was available on the second vehicle.
