Placemaking grant to revitalize downtown Whitby

The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev) has announced a grant of $150,000 for downtown Whitby.

The announcement was made in Whitby yesterday by Ryan Turnbull, Whitby Member of Parliament (MP), in the presence of town officials, including Mayor Elizabeth Roy (below image).

I was thrilled to join Town of Whitby and Whitby Downtown to share on behalf of my colleague Minister Filomena Tassi, over $150,000 through FedDev Ontario for placemaking projects to revitalize downtown Whitby, said MP Turnbull.

He said the grant will help make our community more vibrant and accessible.

Filomena Tassis is the minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

Placemaking is the process of creating quality places that people want to live, work, play, and learn in, according to Congress for the New Urbanism.
