Plan for 214 new residential units in Newcastle

The Municipality of Clarington has announced a proposed plan to build 214 new residential units in Newcastle.

The project will require a Subdivision and Zoning By-Law Amendment for which a Statutory Public Meeting will be organized.

The municipality said 1532314 Ontario Ltd. has submitted an application for a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment to permit a total of 214 residential units, including 166 units in a six-storey apartment building, 39 stacked townhouse units and nine linked townhouse units.

The development includes a private lane, underground parking and amenity spaces.

The site is located at the southwest corner of Rudell Road and Highway 2 (King Avenue) in Newcastle.

Tornat Newcastle Limited proposes to develop the lands located at the northeast corner of King Avenue West and Rudell Road in Newcastle.

The revised proposal includes:

  • An apartment building containing 172 apartment units (four to six storeys without loft)
  • 10 townhouse units
  • Two mixed-use buildings containing a total of 16 apartment units and 1,570 square metres of commercial floor space
  • A park block (0.143 ha)
