Police seek info, treat body found as murder case

The homicide unit has been called in after a 37-year-old male was located deceased early Saturday morning in Oshawa.

On July 15 at about 5:40 am, members of Central East Division were called to a residential address near Bloor Street East and Wilson Road South in Oshawa for unknown trouble call.

Officers attended the location and spoke with paramedics who were called to the scene and located a deceased male. A male was taken into custody at the time of the incident for aggravated assault and the homicide unit was called in, said a police statement.

A thorough investigation commenced and the circumstances surrounding the death of the male are currently being investigated. During the investigation the male who was in police custody was released unconditionally, police said.

The homicide unit will maintain carriage of the incident while the investigation takes place. A postmortem examination will be completed within the coming days.

Investigators advised this is an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.
