Public meeting on future of north Newcastle coming up

A public consultation meeting is being called by Clarington Municipality to discuss the  North Village Secondary Plan, which aims to create a neighbourhood that includes a diverse mix of housing with access to shopping, services, schools and amenities in Newcastle.

The urban design of the community will promote healthy and active lifestyles by integrating the mix of land uses with active transportation connections, said a statement.

This new neighbourhood in Newcastle will be designed to include sustainable design elements for homes and stormwater control, it added.

As part of the North Village Secondary Plan, an Environmental Assessment (EA) is being undertaken for new or modified major roads, including a proposed realignment of Regional Road 17 to Concession Road 3.

Public Information Centre #2 on the future of north Newcastle will be held on:

  • Date: Thursday, November 18, 2021
  • Time: 7 pm.
  • Place: Electronic meeting using an online device or phone.

To attend, residents can register in advance at www.clarington.net/NorthVillageMeeting.
