Woman murder suspect of elderly Oshawa victim arrested

Investigators have made an arrest in the death of 67-year-old Ruth Humphries of Phillip Murray Avenue in Oshawa.

On Friday, November 5, 2021, investigators from the DRPS Major Crime – Homicide Unit arrested Ludmila Auclair, age 40 of Oshawa. She was charged with Second Degree Murder. This is an isolated incident and investigators are not looking for any other suspects in this investigation.

Earlier yesterday, Durham Police confirmed that the ongoing sudden death investigation on Phillip Murray Avenue in Oshawa has now been classified as a homicide.

Ruth Humphries, age 67, was found deceased in her home and her death was deemed suspicious at the time. The post mortem examination revealed significant trauma to the victim’s body that was not consistent with accidental or self-inflicted injuries, said a police statement.

The Major Crime Homicide Unit is continuing the investigation into her death. This is the sixth homicide in Durham Region for 2021.

Investigators are asking the public for any information that may assist in this investigation. Investigators are expected to be at the crime scene through the week collecting evidence.
