Pickering, Uxbridge lane restrictions due to cable installation

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions in the City of Pickering and the Township of Uxbridge for the installation of a broadband fibre optic network.

  • When: Ongoing until February 25.  Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule, said a statement.
  • Where: The broadband network installation will be taking place on Brock Road (Regional Road 1) between Taunton Road (Regional Road 4) in Pickering and Durham Highway 47 in Uxbridge, and along Durham Highway 47 between Goodwood Road (Regional Road 21) and Brock Street in Uxbridge. While most of the construction work will take place in the boulevards, daily lane restrictions may be required during the project to complete the work in a safe and efficient manner, it added.
  • Why: To safely complete underground work for the installation of fibre optic cables.

The region said it realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
