Durham to replace 20+ year old water meters

The Regional Municipality of Durham said Neptune Technology Group will be scheduling appointments with property owners whose water meters are 20 years or older.

It said residents may receive notices from now until March 2022.

The effort is to upgrade existing water meters and update user accounts to allow the Region of Durham to conduct remote readings, said a statement.

Neptune will attempt to contact the property owner via letter and by phone call regarding planned water meter replacements. After sending regional notices by mail, a red door hanger notice is used as an additional final notice.

The letters contain all the necessary information to book an appointment and prepare for the visit. Neptune employees conducting water meter replacements will always carry Durham Region identification.

Residents who receive a notice should follow the instructions on the notice and if they have any questions, call the numbers listed at the bottom.
