Two natural ice skating rinks coming to Whitby

Based on significant community interest, the Town of Whitby is working to create two natural ice skating rinks that will be opening for community use.

One will be located at Peel Park (in the lacrosse box) and the other at Brooklin Memorial Park (in the tennis courts).

While the rinks are expected to open in January, their exact opening date will be highly dependant on weather. Residents can stay informed on when the rinks will open by visiting whitby.ca/skating or following the Town of Whitby on Twitter or Facebook.

Once open, the rinks will operate between 10 am and 10 pm daily. Each rink will have a capacity limit in place – first come, first serve – to help ensure safe physical distancing requirements in place at the rink’s opening. Rink users will be required to follow all posted safety signage and Covid-19 public health guidelines. Town staff will make visits to the rinks daily to monitor capacity and provide any necessary ice maintenance.

When visiting the rinks, please remember to:

  • Bring your own skates;
  • Come dressed for the weather;
  • Keep your belongings on you at all times; and
  • It is also highly recommended to wear a helmet while on the ice.
