Rally today to protest Build Homes More Faster bill

A rally to protest Bill 23 (the Build More Homes Faster Act) is planned to be held today (Friday, December 2) from noon to 1 pm.

It will be held in front of MPP Todd McCarthy’s office at 23 King St. West, Bowmanville.

The rally is coordinated by members of Duffins Rouge Greenspace Coalition, Stop Sprawl Durham, Bluedot Whitby & Oshawa, Land Over Landings, Environmental Action Now Ajax-Pickering, and more.

It builds on an earlier rally held on November 26 in front of MPP Lorne Coe’s office in Whitby.

“We are continuing our efforts to protest Ford government’s Bill 23 (the Build More Homes Faster Act), and the province’s plans to further open up 7,400 acres of the greenbelt, including the Duffins Rouge Agricultural Preserve, for new housing,” said a spokesperson.

“We will be there to stand up and speak up to preserve our wetlands, forests, farms, and natural areas, along with the powers of our conservation authorities to protect them.”
