RIDE 2022: From zero to several impaired in custody

In contrast to a zero impaired driving catch on Tuesday November 29, DRPS Traffic Services officers yesterday had their bagful.

“Incredibly busy night for our RIDE team. Several people in custody for impaired related offences. Please don’t drink and drive,” said a police tweet.

Of course, where would Durham be without its customary complement of speeding drivers.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) North Division officers reported catching two drivers speeding 80 and 86 in a posted 50kmh zone in Goodwood, Uxbridge.

“Please pay attention to the speed limit signs,” reminded the police.

Also in Uxbridge, but in Zephyr, North Division officers clocked two other driver speeding at 77 and 81 in a 50kmh zone.

This is too fast, especially when you are a novice G2 driver. Please obey the speed limit, said the police.

Meanwhile, DRPS Traffic Services caught a driver doing 105 in a 70kmh zone.

We are out enforcing the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) while conducting RIDE programs throughout the Region of Durham.

This motor vehicle (below) was stopped at Thickson and Columbus Road in the Town of Whitby, it added.
