School bomb threat suspect in court today

A 40-year-old Peterborough male has been arrested and charged in connection with a threatening email sent to Port Perry High School.

Peterborough Police arrested and charged Joshua Kimble on November 11. In connection with the Port Perry High School incident, he is charged with Public Mischief and Convey False Message.

The DRPS would like to thank the Peterborough Police Service (PPS), the public and members of the media for their assistance with this investigation.

PPS said Kimble faces several charges including uttering threats after a nation-wide investigation.

Between November 9 and November 10, the accused was sending bomb threats through emails to various libraries, schools and hotels across Ontario and in Vancouver.

The Peterborough police began an investigation when information was received that the messages were being sent from an address in Peterborough.

On November 10, 2020 at approximately 10:10 pm, investigators executed a search warrant on a Rubidge Street residence.

As a result of the investigation, Kimble of Rubidge Street was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Eight counts of convey false message
  • Eight counts of public mischief
  • Two counts of uttering threats to cause death and or bodily harm

The accused was held in custody and attended court on November 11, 2020 where he was remanded in custody and will appear in court on Friday November 13, 2020, PPS said.
