Scugog removes payments processing fee due to postal strike

The Township of Scugog said as a result of the recent Canadian Union of Postal Workers strike, there will be disruptions in the delivery and receipt of mail-based items (e.g. cheques, documents, invoices, etc.).

Included in these delays are monthly reminder notices for past due property tax balances. As an alternate option, residents can visit the Municipal Office at 181 Perry Street during regular business hours to pick up these notices or request an email copy by contacting tax@scugog.ca. Property tax payments can be made in-person at the Municipal Office, at your bank, or online through Scugog Virtual Town Hall, through which balances can also be reviewed. Due to this inconvenience, the township will not be charging the normal processing fee of $6 for these notices.

Additionally, during this time the township warns that it will be unable to receive cheque payments via mail. It asked that during the disruption, groups and residents bring cheques directly to the Municipal Office. If cheque payments need to be made for Ice/Facility rentals or any other recreation-based items, those can be brought directly to the Scugog Arena, 1655 Reach Street.
