Senior in sexual assault, exploitation of 16-year old

Durham police yesterday said a male is facing charges following a sexual assault and exploitation investigation.

On Wednesday, May 27, investigators with the DRPS Special Victims Unit concluded an investigation into an adult male who reportedly sexually assaulted and exploited a 16-year-old female in 2021.

The victim was employed by the suspect between July 2021 and October 2021 at a frozen dessert business in the area of Baldwin Street South and Broadleaf Avenue in Whitby.

Police have concerns there are other victims and are requesting anyone with information to come forward.

The male suspect, age 65 from Whitby, was charged and released on an undertaking, police said. Name, photo of the accused and further details can be viewed at www.drps.ca.
