Seriously, what happens if you remove your ebike pedals?

When you have an electric- or gas-powered two-wheel vehicle, pushing pedals is an onerous task unless your ebike or scooter run out of juice.

But do you at all have to do away with the pedals provided with the vehicle?

No, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

And, what happens if you do?

A lot, according to DRPS North Division officers, who initially stopped a rider for not wearing a helmet on an ebike in Port Perry on Wednesday.

“Removing the pedals makes the ebike a motor vehicle, requiring a valid M licence, insurance, plates and registration,” they pointed out.

Meanwhile, North Division traffic officers conducted speed enforcement on Main Street in Beaverton yesterday afternoon.

“Please obey the speed limit,” they said.
