Driver on phone with two kids in car + watching movies

Talking on your phone while driving may have been fun, or even important, for the driver – but it certainly was dangerous for the two kids in the car.

Yesterday, officers from Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) East Division, came across a motorist on Trulls Road and Avondale Road in Courtice, Clarington.

They stopped the driver for talking on the cell phone in a live lane. The person had two small children in car seats in the rear.

The motorist was issued a $618 fine, three demerit points and, upon conviction, a three-day driving licence suspension.

“Put your phone down and pay attention to the road!” said the police.

Driver caught watching movies

Meanwhile, DRPS Traffic Services yesterday came across a driver who was surprised to learn it’s against the law to watch movies or videos while driving.

This was this driver’s (top image) second cellphone related offence.

Police did not release any further details.

DRPS yesterday temporarily closed the Darlington Clark Townline Road (Reg Road 42) both northbound/southbound lanes between Clarington Concession Road 4 and Taunton due to an ongoing motor vehicle collision investigation.

It was later re-opened.
