Durham Police yesterday said seven males have been charged after the completion of a human trafficking investigation in Durham Region.

Members of the Durham Regional Police Service Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) launched an ongoing initiative, dubbed Project Firebird, to combat the purchase of sexual services from minors in Durham Region.
Between May and June 2024, Project Firebird saw multiple individuals arrange meetings for sexual services with minors, said a police report.
It said seven males were taken into custody without incident.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact D/Cst. Heron of the Human Trafficking Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5600.
Editor’s Note: Durham Post does not name or identify the accused as:
1. Of this time, they are suspect[s] and not convicted by a court, and
2. Sometimes charges are amended or dropped.
The Canadian criminal system is completely off the rails. Car theft , illegal gun possession, now rape of minors and the judiciary cuts them loose or gives them a slap on the wrist. Time we spent less money on building houses and more on building jails and filling them up with these jerks.
