Sinkhole: Bowmanville Avenue tunnel reopened

The Municipality of Clarington announced that the Alonna Street pathway and pedestrian tunnel under Bowmanville Avenue has now reopened.

The tunnel was reopened on Friday.

The tunnel was closed for several weeks after a water main break caused flooding and a sinkhole formed. Fences had been erected to keep pedestrians out.

Crews from the Region of Durham worked to ensure the integrity of the area and prevent future sinkholes.
