Six covid deaths in six days in Durham

Durham Health yesterday updated the number of Covid-19 deaths to six in six consecutive days.

It also reported 105 new covid cases for December 3 bringing the region’s total to 4,827 cases since the count began on February 29.

Recoveries stand at 4,045, up by 52. There were 592 active covid cases in Durham.

According to Durham Health, there were:

  • Thirty-four new cases in Oshawa
  • Twenty-seven in Ajax
  • Fourteen in Pickering
  • Eleven in Whitby, and
  • Nine in Clarington
  • Thirty cases are under investigation

Twenty-three cases are hospitalized with five in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 569 people in home isolation.

Deaths so far total 190, of which 160 were in long term care homes (LTCH).

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,459 in Ajax, followed by 1,150 in Pickering.

Death Toll: Two new deaths in Whitby

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 39 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Nine deaths were reported in Whitby, five in LTCH
Of the 24 reported deaths in Oshawa, 16 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
