Storm gusts and hail bring trees down in Durham

At least two trees were brought down by yesterday’s storm which intermittently lashed Durham region.

Hail was also recorded in parts. Winds were strong yesterday with one cyclist saying he could barely breathe.

However, the inclement weather did not dampen the spirit of police riders and runners for the annual memorial run that passed through Durham yesterday.

One tree was down on Highway 12 between Myrtle and the turnoff for Port Perry, according to an eyewitness.

A police cruiser in Whitby reported hail and a tree down on Kennett Drive past McQuay Boulevard. However, there was no damage to property, police said.
