Struck cyclist stable, driver remained on scene

A 47-year-old female cyclist suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being struck yesterday by a motor vehicle on Thickson Road North in Whitby.

On June 16 at about 6:10 am officers from Central West Division were called to a motor vehicle collision involving cyclist at Thickson Road North and Carnwith Drive East. Both the cyclist and motor vehicle were travelling southbound on Thickson Road North when the cyclist was struck, said a police statement.

The female cyclist was transported to a Toronto trauma centre where she remains in stable condition. The driver remained on scene.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation, police said.
