Son and grandson of missing Whitby women arrested

Durham Police investigators from the Major Crime Homicide Unit have arrested a suspect in connection with the disappearance of two females from Whitby.

On Friday, October 22, investigators arrested Joshua Burton, age 30 of Whitby and charged him with two counts of Second Degree Murder. The suspect is the son and grandson of the missing females. He was arrested in Oshawa on Friday afternoon.

Police have not located Ava Burton, age 58 and her mother Tatilda Noble, age 85, both of Scepter Place in Whitby, but it is presumed that they are deceased. Police continue to look for any clues that will help them find their remains. This is an ongoing investigation.
