A young male is facing charges after breaking into a vehicle and threatening the vehicle’s owner in Oshawa.
On Sunday, July 19 at about 6:15 pm, members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Bruce Street and Court Street. The victim returned to his parked vehicle and found a male suspect inside. The victim confronted the suspect, who then threatened the victim with a knife before fleeing the area.
Officers arrived in the area a short time later and observed the suspect fleeing. Following a brief foot pursuit, the suspect made threats toward officers with the knife and a hammer. Officers deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon (taser) and were able to safely take the suspect into custody.
The victim did not suffer any physical injuries, police said.
The suspect, age 18 of No Fixed Address was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
