Durham police said a youth and an adult male are facing charges after an investigation into a robbery and assault in Oshawa.
On Monday, March 2, around 7:50 pm, members of Central East Division responded to an assault call in the area of Cedar Street and Porter Street. The victim met with two suspects outside of a residential building to sell shoes. The suspects robbed the victim and fled the area with the shoes, police said.
A short time later, the suspects attended the Durham College Athletic Complex located at 21 Avenue of Champions in Oshawa, where a high-school basketball game was being held. The suspects targeted and assaulted a second victim with an imitation firearm, before fleeing the area.
On Monday, March 9, the first suspect surrendered himself to investigators and was taken into custody.
On Monday, March 30, the second suspect surrendered himself to investigators and was taken into custody.
This was an isolated incident as the suspect and victims are known to each other.
The man, aged 19 from Ajax, was on weapons prohibition conditions.
A 17-year-old teen boy from Pickering was on conditions not to use any online marketplace applications.
