A recycled metals thief is facing charges after stealing scrap metals valued at over $45,0000 in Ajax.
On Thursday, June 25, around 9:15 pm, members of West Division responded to an alarm call at AIM Recycling located at 140 Dowty Road.
A male suspect was observed breaking into the business’s scrap metal yard. Officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, Tactical Support Unit, and Drone Unit, searched the area and located the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident.
Further investigation revealed the suspect had committed multiple thefts from the business, stealing more than $45,000 in metal.
The 35-year old man from Pickering was charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
