Thieves abandon stolen vehicle near Lake Ontario

Three suspects were arrested after fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle.

On Monday, February 1, 2021, at approximately 2:07 pm, members of Central West Division responded for a suspicious vehicle in the area of Brock Street North and Taunton Road West in Whitby. Officers located the white Hyundai sedan and attempted to stop the vehicle on Taunton Road West. The driver failed to stop and traveled southbound on Brock Street North at a high rate of speed. Numerous officers converged in the area and located the vehicle abandoned on Ontoro Boulevard in Ajax, police said.

With the assistance of the public, officers were directed to the suspects who were attempting to flee into the forested area.

Shawn Mingo, age 18, of Darcel Avenue in Mississauga is charged with: Flight from Police Officer; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance and Possess Property Obtained by Crime.

Justice Omoregie, age 19 of Lisa Street in Brampton is charged with: Flight from Police Officer; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance and Possess Property Obtained by Crime.

A third suspect, age 17, from Mississauga who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with: Flight from Police Officer; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance and .

All three were released on an Undertaking.
