10,000+ have recovered from covid in Durham

Durham Health yesterday added one new non-long term care (LTC) facility Covid-19 death in Clarington, taking the overall death toll to 284. Of these 215 have taken place at LTCs.

Durham Health also posted 67 new Covid-19 cases for January 31, taking the region’s tally to 10,775 since the count began on February 29.

There were:

  • 18 new cases in Pickering
  • 11 new cases in Ajax
  • 15 in Whitby
  • 19 in Oshawa
  • 3 in Clarington
  • 1 in Uxbridge

Recoveries stand at 10,016, up by 47. There are 475 active covid cases.

Twenty-nine cases are hospitalized with 14 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 446 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 3,147 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 284              LTCH – 215

Of the 97 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 48 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Forty-three deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTCH
Of the 46 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTCH
Twelve deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
Fourteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 12 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Brock
