Thieves steal $700 worth scotch… flee in stolen van

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said officers from the East Division stopped a stolen vehicle after the three occupants allegedly stole hundreds of dollars of scotch from a LCBO in Newcastle on Sunday.

On February 21 afternoon, a theft took place at the LCBO outlet near King Street West and Mill Street South in Newcastle. Two suspects stole approximately $700 worth of Scotch and fled in a van, said a police statement.

Police located the van travelling westbound on Highway 401 and stopped it. Further investigation revealed that the van was also stolen.

Two men and a woman from Toronto have been charged and were released on an undertaking.
