Travel Alert: GO trains to be suspended this coming weekend

This upcoming weekend (Saturday and Sunday, April 11 and 12), the Lakeshore East Line and Stouffville Line rail service will be temporarily suspended, according to Metrolinx.

On Friday, April 10, there will also be some late-night service adjustments.

Lakeshore East: Starting on Saturday, April 11, Lakeshore East Line rail service will be temporarily suspended until end of service on Sunday, April 12, to accommodate critical track work. These track closures are required to make essential improvements for faster and more frequent trips.

During the closure, crews will be working on track improvements and working on the progress of the future Ontario Line subway.

GO buses will replace train service between Durham College Oshawa and Pickering GO stations and run express to Union Station Bus Terminal.

There will be no GO Transit services at Rouge Hill, Guildwood, Eglinton, Scarborough, and Danforth GO stations. Customers traveling to and from those stations are encouraged to use the TTC, Metrolinx said.

GO buses may depart at different times than regularly scheduled train service, and bus connections for GO bus route 88 may be affected, it added.

On Monday, April 13, some trains will need to run at slower speeds due to construction completed over the weekend. Some trains between Pickering and Durham College Oshawa GO will arrive and depart a few minutes later than usual.

Regular service will resume on Tuesday April 14.

GO buses will replace train service between Old Elm and Unionville GO stations and run express Union Station Bus Terminal.

There will be no GO Transit service at Milliken, Agincourt and Kennedy GO stations. Customers traveling to and from those stations are encouraged to use the TTC.

On Friday, April 10, there will also be some late-night service adjustments.

Regular service will resume on Monday, April 13.
