Travel Tales: They also do this, and this…

The police wear many hats for the very many different roles they play in the community. One of them includes helping push a stalled car to a safe place.

And, when the going gets tough, Durham residents are not shy to step up and literally lend a helping hand.

DRPS West Division officers were on patrol in the Town of Ajax when they saw a broken down car in a live lane of traffic.

After stopping to help, they began to push it off the roadway (top image) into a parking lot but struggled going up a hill. Residents stepped up (image below).

“To those that didn’t hesitate to come help, thank you!” said the police.

And this…

It’s not only in the front, back or sides of a vehicle that the police are interested in. They’re also curious about what’s underneath, especially if a violation is suspected.

And they don’t mind getting down to the ground and getting their clothes and hands dirty to do their job (image below).

DRPS North Division Traffic, along with DRPS Road Safety and Transport Ontario conducted a joint Commercial Motor Vehicle safety initiative in Uxbridge.

Numerous charges were laid, and several commercial motor vehicless were taken out of service, police said.

Others too

“Our own Traffic Sergeant spotted this vehicle (image below). It was inspected – resulting in over ten charges. The tow vehicle and trailer were taken out of service,’ said a police alert.
