Two dangerous drivers manage to get away from police stops

Yesterday Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) announced two incidents of drivers taking off from a traffic stop.

On Monday October 30, members of DRPS Central East Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of Bloor Street West and Simcoe Street South in Oshawa.

The subject vehicle had licence plates affixed to its front and rear that did not belong on the vehicle. When an officer approached the vehicle on foot, it fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was not pursued due to the dangerous manner in which it fled, said police.

A short time later, the vehicle was located off the roadway in the area of Park Road South and Bloor Street West. The vehicle had collided with a fence and was unoccupied.

Officers checked the vehicle details and confirmed that it had been stolen. They also searched the interior of the vehicle and located multiple packages of marijuana and drug paraphernalia indicating drug trafficking.

There was no mention of an arrest.

Impaired driver strikes two cars and flees

On the same day, members of DRPS Central East Division responded to reports of an impaired driver in Oshawa.

The vehicle was observed being driven in an extremely dangerous manner and failed to stop for police when a traffic stop was attempted.

Police were responding to reports of an impaired driver in the area of Beatrice Street East and Wilson Road North in Oshawa.

A silver Honda sedan struck two cars in a parking lot. Bystanders attempted to stop the Honda but were almost truck in the process. The Honda fled the area prior to police arrival.

Police located the vehicle a short distance away and attempted a traffic stop. However the Honda failed to stop and fled from police.

No parties were physically injured in this incident, police said.

 

There was no mention of an arrest.
