Two developments with 1,900+ units planned in Clarington

The Municipality of Clarington has announced it has received proposals for two new development consisting of 1,915 units in total in Newcastle.

These will be brought forward for public input at a Clarington committee meeting on Monday, June 16.

Proposed Development at 6 Wilmot Creek Drive

GHD Limited also submitted applications on behalf of Rice Development Corporation for a Zoning By-law Amendment and Draft Plan of Subdivision for a site at 6 Wilmot Creek Drive, Newcastle.

This 30.71-hectare (75.89-acre) proposal also conforms to the area’s Official Plan and proposes about 1,755 units, made up of:

  • 114 street-related townhouses
  • 269 condominium townhouses
  • 1,372 apartment units

The proposal also includes:

  • 1,700 square metres of retail space in four mixed-use buildings
  • Two parkettes, open space blocks, a stormwater management facility, and underground parking

Proposed Development on Bennett Road

GHD Limited has submitted applications on behalf of Douglas Humphrey for a Zoning By-law Amendment and Draft Plan of Subdivision for a property located on Bennett Road, just north of the CN Railway in Newcastle.

The municipality said the 2.55-hectare (6.30-acre) proposal conforms to Clarington’s Official Plan for the area and aims to allow for the development of 160 residential units, including:

  • 60 back-to-back townhouses
  • 100 apartment units

The plan also includes a parkette and underground parking.
